In the past, the Spring season has been the best to buy a new home, but trends have shown that fall is gaining popularity and here is why.
1. Bye Bye Competition: Fall has much less competition for those looking to buy this is something you can use to your advantage. You may also be able to lowball any sellers who are looking to move out before the holidays. A great tip is to let sellers know that they can close before Thanksgiving or the winter break.
2. Center of Attention: As we have stated before, the spring and summer months have been more popular for real estate. Which typically makes real estate agents much busier. When you begin your search in the fall, your agent may have more time to dedicate themselves to you. Also true for moving companies and truck rentals, which are harder to come by in the summer months. Who wants to move in 90-degree weather anyway?
3. Deal or No Deal: Some sellers who put their homes on the market during the prime selling times of spring and summer might have been a tad overconfident by listing their homes for more than buyers were willing to spend. After months of no action, these sellers are often ready to make a deal.
4. SALES: Did you forget about all of the fantastic end of season sales? You can get the grill or patio furniture for half off in September or decorate your home for a cheaper cost. In particular, September is a great time for buying carpet and paint. October means lawn mowers go on sale, and appliances and cookware are cheaper in November.
Don't wait for the first leaf to fall because your dream home is out there! Happy home-owning!
